This is the movie that Jewish kids who went away to overnight camp (instead of working) typically cite as one of their favorites.  While their parents shelled out thousands of dollars so they could make “life long connections” at camp, these kids would learn from each other about masturbation and penis size and all other male pubescent rites of passage.  But, being done in a more sheltered, removed environment allowed these kids to be much more open with themselves.  Thus, it makes sense that they like a movie about male bonding in a prison.
