It is not that Eagles fans enjoy frustrating seasons or the disappointment of overrated superstars; it’s that they need the warm, fuzzy feeling of false hope. The hope that through a championship football team (and only a championship team) their city will transcend from an angry, industrial dump to one that can reasonably compete with the more-elite east-coast cities. Out in droves at the away football game, the Eagles fans are the overweight ones wearing jerseys of Randall Cunningham, Mike Quick, or Mike Mamula (tre chic throwback) and aggressively attempting to start fights by shouting superfluous statistics.
