It was like Berlin in the 1890’s, or San Francisco in the 1960’s, or the East Village in the 1970’s…. a single place, capturing the spirit or zeitgeist of the times. Oh, from 1994 to 2001 the University of Vermont was an emerald city completely capturing the essence of the 1990’s, Generation-X, liberal, hippie-douchebag.
Phish was jamming, hackey-sacks were flying, Ben and Jerry were scooping, fatty veggie burritos were being eaten, female leg hair was growing, showers were not happening, and the entire student body was
eagerly lazily awaiting April 20th, with trippy glass bubblers in hand. A truly wondrous time! Unfortunately though, all good things must come to an end, and the fall-out from UVM’s hey-day, the spirit has been replaced by the less ambitious siblings of Middlebury and
Brandeis students who care more about matching their Ipod carrying case with their North Face fleece jacket.
