The basis for the strong USC alumni network in southern California is similar to the connection between two Alcoholics Anonymous members meeting randomly and bonding through mutual sympathy.  The USC alumni connection is immediately established when both parties are able to ascertain that by sheer existence of their degrees, they were both spoiled, rich California kids with limited intelligence/motivation who were raised by parents that could not bear to show their face at the Jonathan Club if their offspring did not become Trojans like themselves. 



Los Angeles is really screwed up.  Seriously, why in the blue hell would parents be excited about paying more money to send their children to the LA private university that is substantially worse than any of the California public schools?  Oh, “status,” that’s right.  Right... it never occurred to me that an overgrown community college could pride itself on its... status.  - DUBS
