Well, you should have gone to Berkeley in the 60’s. Because Berkeley in 2007 is now an icon of caramel macchiatos, Urban Outfitters, and bitten-lip repressed discrimination towards Asians (even amongst Asians). Sociological debates concerning the economic vitality and social well-being of the lower classes? Ha! The only topics that are debated here (over FAT slices of pizza) include whether you should refer to Paul Lee as a ‘twinkie’ or a ‘banana;’ whose Daddy is wealthier – Jill’s in Silicon Valley or Simion’s in Napa Valley; or which spring break destination is hopefully “gayer” - Tahoe or Mount Whitney.
